Continue reading below for a few things you can do this Valentine’s Day to show your dog how much you care.
Go For A Long Walk
One of the best gifts you can give your dog is some quality time and a long walk. Not only is a walk good exercise, but it gives your pup a change of scenery and some new smells to sniff. Spend the morning exploring your favorite trails or visit a dog park! Even an extra walk around the block is a nice change from the normal routine, and your furball will appreciate the chance to run around while spending time with his or her favorite human.
Buy A New Toy
If you have a pooch that likes to chew through everything that he or she gets their paws on, treat your pup with a new toy! There are dozens of toys that are made to be “indestructible,” or buy your ferocious canine a rawhide bone or something that he or she can spend hours chewing on. You could even buy Fido a new ball and take it on your walk to throw around at a park!
Just like humans, dogs like to be pampered every once in awhile. Take your pup to the groomers and let him or her get the royal treatment. If you have things to get done, this is also a great way to show your pup you care while you take some time to run errands. Not only that, but your dog will come away from a day at the “spa” smelling fresh, clean, and ready to spend the evening cuddling on the couch.
Wash Your Dog’s Bedding
When was the last time you washed Fido’s bedding? It may not have been as recent as you would like to admit. In that case, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to give all of your dog’s well-loved bedding a good cleaning. As a human, you know how good it feels to fall asleep in clean sheets, so why not give the same luxury to your dog? You can even toss the bedding into the washing machine while your dog is at the groomers! Not only will you have a great-smelling dog, but that freshness will last longer with clean bedding.
Dogs are very loving animals, and the best way to show your dog you care on Valentine’s Day is to spend some quality time with your best friend. Whether it’s going for a walk or just cuddling on the couch, your dog will appreciate getting to spend some time with you.
Dog Training Classes
Taking your pooch to a dog training class may not sound like the ideal way to spread the love on Valentine’s Day, but think about it. Between the treats and praise for doing a trick right and getting to spend quality time with his or her favorite human, what’s not to love?
At ACDT, our experts can give you the dog training tools you need to teach your dog to be the best member of the family that he or she could possibly be.
